Large scsle quantum simulations: C60 Impacts on a semiconducting surface.

چکیده
We present tight binding molecular dynamics simulations of C60 collisions on the reconstructed diamond(111) surface, carried out with an O(N) method and with cells containing 1140 atoms. The results of our simulations are in very good agreement with experiments performed under the same impact conditions. Furthermore our calculations provide a detailed characterization of the microscopic processes occuring during the collision, and allow the identification of three impact regimes, as a function of the fullerene incident energy. Finally, the study of the reactivity between the cluster and the surface gives insight into the deposition mechanisms of C60 on semiconducting substrates. 79.20.Rf,71.20.Ad,68.10.Jy Typeset using REVTEX

One dimensional single-crystal nanorods of C60 possess unique optoelectronic properties including high electron mobility, high photosensitivity and an excellent electron accepting nature. In addition, their rapid large scale synthesis at room temperature makes these organic semiconducting nanorods highly attractive for advanced optoelectronic device applications. Here, we report low-cost large-...
متن کاملQuantum Mechanical Calculations of Photovoltaic and Photoelectronic Properties of Oligoselenophene/Fullerene BHJ Solar Cells
To model the active layer in the hetero-junction solar cells, the C60, C70, PC60BM, PCBDAN fullerenes as acceptor, and (OS)n=1) oligoselenophenes as donor were considered. The (OS)n=14/C60, (OS)n=14/C70, (OS)n=14/PC60BM, and (OS)n=14/PCBDAN blends as a model of the active layer in the BHJ solar cell were chosen, and the optoelectronic properties were studied. The calculated efficiency of these ...
متن کاملA statistical analysis of the lateral displacement of Si atoms in molecular dynamics simulations of successive bombardment with 20-keV C60 projectiles
Please cite this article in press as: K.D. Krantzma successive bombardment with 20-keV C60 proje An important factor that determines the possible lateral resolution in sputter depth profiling experiments is ion induced lateral displacement of substrate atoms. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations are performed to model the successive bombardment of Si with 20 keV C60 at normal incidence. A statis...
متن کاملCharge Transfer and Gap States in Semiconducting Nanopeapods: a Theoretical Study
The electronic structures of nanopeapods that consist of a semiconducting nanotube and various fullerenes, such as C60, C82, La@C60, and La@C82 are investigated using a first-principles method. For all the systems studied, molecular states originating from fullerenes are found within the energy gap of the semiconducting nanotube, often resulting in effective hole doping of nanotubes as the Ferm...
